Castor oil has not been found to do anything significant for hair growth. But some effects can indirectly help your hair growth. Its ability to fight bacterial or fungal growth on the skin can protect your hair follicles from damage, thus keeping your hair healthy and contributing to hair growth.

Castor oil is said to be good for hair growth. As an anti-ageing remedy used in traditional medicine, it is said to moisturize the scalp, reduce dandruff and provide smooth, firm and shiny hair. Castor oil arrives from castor beans and is wealthy in ricinoleic acid – fatty acid discovered to fight inflammation.
There is no specific standard for how often you should use castor oil. But one or two a week for at least three months is recommended.
Castor oil is heavy oil, and if used frequently, the oil can build up on your hair and make it look greasy.

Give the castor oil some time to work its magic. Ideally, it would help to let the castor oil sit on your scalp and hair for at least half an hour. Of course, you can leave it on overnight and wash it off the following day.

Be extremely cautious not to bring any of the oil into your eye (oil that gets into your vision can be highly irritating and should be washed off immediately with water).
